Appraisal and Ideology Realization in Indonesia State Capital Relocation News Texts

The PDF file:  Appraisal and Ideology Realization in Indonesia State Capital Relocation News Texts (ijscl.com)   titled "Appraisal and Ideology Realization in Indonesia State Capital Relocation News Texts: Appraisal and Ideology Realization in Indonesia State Capital Relocation News Texts" delves into the analysis of language and rhetoric used in news reporting about the relocation of the state capital in Indonesia.

The study focuses on the appraisal rhetoric devices employed in the news texts to highlight how language constructs and conveys ideological stances within political discourse. The research examines the appraisal system realization in Indonesian news texts related to the state capital relocation and the construction of ideology within these texts. It analyzes the appraisal system's attitude, graduation, and engagement aspects in news texts from various Indonesian newspapers, such as Kompas, Republika, Media Indonesia, and Jawa Pos. The analysis reveals a prevalence of positive attitudes towards the relocation project, aligning with the government's narrative, but also acknowledges the presence of dissenting voices within the discourse.

The study employs a methodological framework based on the Systemic Functional Linguistics (SFL) approach to investigate the ideological interpersonal processes embedded in the news texts. The research methodology involves data collection, textual segmentation, coding using the SFL appraisal framework, data display and reduction, analysis and interpretation, conclusion and reporting, implications, and limitations and future research. The findings shed light on how language is used to shape news alignment, narrative, and ideological implications in the context of the state capital relocation in Indonesia.
